*********************************************************Ms. Hu was born in a music family. Begin at the age of four she studied piano with her mother Ms. Yuen Kei Sui, then Ms. Zhu Zhu and Ms. Fei Lan Li at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing; Mr. Patrick Li and Mr. Earl Moss at RCM and furthered her studies with Mr. Sergei Pavlov in Toronto. She achieved Helen Valenska Memorial Scholarship in 1987; won Beethoven and Chopin Prizes at CNE Music Festival in 1988; received Honorable Mention Award from Amadeus Choir Carol Writing Competition in 1993.Ms. Hu has dedicated herself to the art of music teaching in Toronto since 1985. She emphasizes the importance of fundamental method teaching and develops students’ musical senses with consistent training of ear-training, sight-reading, technique, wide selection of repertoire and music theory. Ms. Hu believes that each and every individual is musical deeply inside and it takes time and effort to discover and develop one’s musical sense. After all the appreciation and the joy of music are the gifts of life. Music teaches a lot about life. Beside classical music, she encourages students to explore the world of Disney music, jazz, pop music, folk tunes, movie music, dancing music, Broadway musicals and much more. For 27 years, all Ms.Hu’s students have successfully achieved first class honors and honors at all grades of RCM exams including ARCTs. Some of her students have participated and won prizes in piano competitions since year 2000. Ms.Hu’s students have performed at disable people’s home and many senior homes such as Gibson, Tendercare, Leisureworld and Yee Hong. The annual student recital has been a tradition. It has been held inMay/June every year since 1989.
